360-Veneers are a Scam
Posted by writeradmin
I went to my dentist asking for porcelain veneers. He told me that because of my overbite that I am a better candidate for 360-veneers. I told him that I did not want too much tooth structure removed from my teeth. He promised me that hardly any would be removed. I trusted him and agreed. The teeth were okay—better than my previous smile but not as beautiful as i was hoping. However, that isn’t the big problem. What I’ve been dealing with is the fact that I have a few of them that keep popping off. I cannot predict when it is going to happen. While he does always put them back on, it is dashed inconvenient. I have to miss work and I’m always terrified that they’re going to fall out while I am in public. And the kicker? The first time one of the veneers popped off, I noticed that my teeth were ground down to little nubs. That’s definitely not the “hardly any” tooth structure removal that he said I’d get. Is it normal for veneers to pop off like this? Is there any way to get them stronger?

Dear Sandy,

The first thing that you should know is that there is no such thing as 360-veneers. Porcelain veneers will only cover the front of your teeth and hug the sides. It is porcelain crowns that go all the way around your teeth (360-degrees). Above, I have two images of tooth preparation. One of dental crown preparation. The other is porcelain veneer prep. Based on your description, I would say that your teeth had been prepped for crowns.
Why would your dentist give you crowns instead of veneers? Some dentists don’t have the post doctoral training to place porcelain veneers. Rather than tell their patient that they don’t have the skills needed, they steer them toward dental crowns. Every dentist is trained on how to place dental crowns.
Except your dentist didn’t just steer you toward dental crowns, he lied to you and told you that you are getting porcelain veneers. That is unethical. Then, factor in that he can’t even get those to stay in. That is incompetent. Most dentists go their whole careers without a single crown coming off. Your dentist can’t seem to get them to stay in.
I don’t want you to just get a refund. There’s a really good chance that he’s done some damage to your teeth by over contouring. I want you to see an expert cosmetic dentist and have him look at your teeth. Have the expert cosmetic dentist replace your smile makeover and the dentist who lied to you should pay for it.
