What Can I Expect On My First Visit? | Alabaster Aesthetic Dentistry
“Dr. Dudney and his staff are some of the friendliest and most welcoming people. They truly make going to the dentist fun!” — Lindy McCullers Carmichael
Welcome!
Whether you’re here for a consultation or your first cleaning, we’re glad to have you. Here’s a look at what you can expect on your first visit.
Consultation
If you’re considering restorative work such as a smile makeover, full-mouth reconstruction, or implant-supported dentures, your first visit will last about an hour and include a comprehensive dental exam and consultation. When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by our staff and seated in the waiting area. While you wait, we’ll ask you to complete our new patient forms. When it’s time for your appointment, we’ll escort you to our consultation room.
Here you’ll get to meet Dr. Thomas Dudney and one of our dental assistants, Kristy. Together, we’ll discuss the type of restoration you have in mind. This is a good time for you to ask any questions. Dr. Dudney will then perform an exam to assess your oral health and determine the most appropriate treatment for your situation. Photos, x-rays, and scans may be taken, depending on what is indicated for the type of treatment you need. At the end of the visit, Dr. Dudney will share with you his recommendations. Depending on your needs, he may want to review all your records later and have you back to explain your options.
Cleaning
For routine dental care, your first visit will include an exam and a cleaning, which should take about an hour altogether. When you arrive, our staff will greet you, and you’ll get to meet your hygienist. You’ll be seated in the waiting area, where we’ll ask you to fill out our new patient paperwork. When it’s time for your appointment, we’ll escort you to our exam room.
Then, your hygienist will take care of your dental cleaning. We’ll take some bitewing x-rays and a panoramic x-ray. Afterwards, you’ll get to meet Dr. Luis Abrahante, who will perform your exam. Dr. Abrahante is fluent in English and Spanish. He’ll assess your oral health and look at your x-rays. If any treatment is needed, our front desk staff will be happy to assist you with scheduling a follow-up appointment.
