Birmingham, AL Teeth Whitening
At Alabaster Aesthetic Dentistry, you can brighten children’s futures while you brighten your smile. Between the months of March and June all proceeds from our teeth whitening treatments go directly to children’s charities.
How Does Teeth Whitening Work?
Stains in your teeth are embedded deep in the enamel. To remove them, you need a bleaching agent that can penetrate well below the surface of the enamel and remain there for a certain amount of time. Whitening toothpastes can’t accomplish this because they only reach the surface of your teeth. Our bleaching solution uses a peroxide gel that seeps down into the enamel to dissolve stains at their source. We create a custom-fitted plastic tray for you that holds the gel in place on your teeth for the prescribed period of time each day. The result: a noticeably whiter smile in just 2-4 weeks!
Our Convenient In-Home Solution
Our in-home teeth whitening program allows you to brighten your smile on your schedule. Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Dental Exam
Before we get you started on a teeth whitening program, we’ll see you for an exam and cleaning. Your teeth and gums need to be healthy before the peroxide gel can be safely applied. If everything looks good, we’ll take some digital impressions of your teeth and create a plastic tray that fits you comfortably. Then, we’ll send you home with the bleaching gel and tray so you can begin treatment!
Step 2: In-Home Treatment
Before we send you home, we’ll give you all the instructions you need to get started on your in-home whitening program. The length of time you wear your tray at each application will depend on your individual needs and schedule, including whether you’re opting for day or night bleaching. Either way, the process is the same: after brushing or flossing, you’ll apply the peroxide gel to the tray, insert the tray into your mouth, and wear it for the directed amount of time each day or night. If you experience any sensitivity in response to the bleaching gel, let us know right away.
Step 3: Follow-Up Appointment
Once your treatment is underway, we’ll see you for a follow-up visit. At this appointment, we’ll check for gum sensitivity and irritation. If everything looks good, you can continue treatment for as long as you wish. Your smile will get brighter with each round of treatment!
Smiles For Life
Once you’ve achieved a smile that’s as bright as you want it, you will no longer need to wear your tray each day. But your teeth will accumulate stains again, so at some point you may want to touch them up. When this happens, let us know at your next check-up, and we’ll give you a free tube of peroxide gel so that you can keep on smiling brightly.
