What antibiotic should I take for a tooth infection?
Posted by writeradmin
A few years ago, I had a root canal and then was discharged. As a result, placing the dental crown over the root canal-treated tooth wasn’t a priority for me. I’d gotten by with a filling my pharmacy sold. It’s a store-bought filling. Now, I seem to have an infection in that tooth. What antibiotics do I need to treat this latest problem?

Dear Mario,
Antibiotics don’t cure a tooth infection. The only way to do that is for the dentist to physically remove the infected pulp. The preferred method in these situations is a root canal, which cleans the infected pulp and simultaneously saves the tooth. Since that’s already been done, the next step is to extract the tooth. When the tooth is extracted, the infection goes with it.
Don’t put it off. Dental infections are dangerous and will continue to spread. That’s why they’re considered a dental emergency. If they spread outside the tooth and aren’t treated, they can also become a medical emergency.
Once the tooth is extracted, you’ll want to replace it. The ideal tooth replacement is a dental implant. I don’t know if you’re still unemployed. If you are, a dental implant may be too expensive. There are other, less expensive options. The cheapest is a dental flipper, which will keep the space open while providing a false tooth.
I would use this as a temporary solution while you save up for a better, more permanent solution.
